About the The Writing Project

The National Writing Project, founded in 1974, focuses the knowledge, expertise, and leadership of our nation’s educators on sustained efforts to improve writing and learning for all learners. NWP is a national network of university-based sites serving all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and U.S. Virgin Islands.

Since 1997, the Northwest Arkansas Writing Project at the University of Arkansas, has addressed the writing instruction needs specific to our area. NWAWP offers courses and programs for teachers throughout the school year, provides inservice presentations at local school districts, and creates opportunities for students to experience a writing project-like atmosphere through youth programming.

For more information about NWAWP, visit our website at www.nwawp.org or contact our Director, Dr. Goering at cgoering@uark.edu.
